yuko kodama lives and practices in brooklyn, new york. she has been teaching yoga since 2001 and is a student of ashtanga yoga since 1996. she is a graduate of parsons school of design in fine art with a bfa in sculpture (1996) and an mfa in computer animation (1999).

yuko began her study of pilates to heal from surgery from having had a rare cancer. she is certified in gyrotonic® level 2 and gyrokinesis®, teaching this method since 2017. she is also certified through ellie herman pilates (2017) and has completed a year long course with irene dowd (2018) in anatomy. she is also a long time student of maureen fleming, a renowned dance artist. yuko performed in her company (1996–98), and is certified in her method of fleming elastxx.

yuko practices mindfulness meditation, feldenkreis and studies vedic astrology and ayurveda. she believes that learning is a life long journey and studies new things to keep herself current with the latest research regarding breath and movement. her practice of yoga, art and meditation creates a class with a focus on breath, awareness, and creativity. her classes spring from a wealth of knowledge and life experience. she is a mother of two and a partner to a musician in brooklyn.

yuko has been teaching at pilates shop yoga garage new york (psyg) from 2018 until 2022.

she now offers private instructions at bridge pilates, brooklyn, pilates on cortelyou, brooklyn and body evolutions, new york.
